Freddy is correct. you can start using the review system as soon as you sign up!

I appreciate this system. I like the fact items are being reviewed. This is great.  And I appreciate the admin/moderators setting it up. Just one comment ...

Looking at the soaps the median score is 5 and avg 4.6. Throw out a high and a low and the median score is 5 and avg is 4.75.  This isn't real life as I noted here https://damnfineshave.com/thread-a-serio...am-reviews and there was a very long discussion, 300 posts about why reviews aren't realistic.

Since the system is in its infancy, I'm going to right off a median score of 5 out of 5 as anomalous (perhaps the sample size is too small), because that simply isn't realistic. Please keep the reviews coming. I really like them. But if everything is 4 or 5, something is very wrong. What happens when the reviewers review something even better than what is already scored?

Just wondering.

This system allows for multiple reviews of the same product, so if person a scores a soap as a five, and person b as a 1 then the product score will be 3.

The sample size is too small right now to see the way it works. If you have tried any of the products already reviewed then add a review to that product to increase the sample size and the number of opinions.

grim, you are either a statistician or just enjoy statistics, as many do.  However, for most of us, I think reviews help us to learn about new products and we don't put quite the fine and accurate touch on it that you might.  Also, while there are a couple of less than 4½ and 5 star reviews, my thought is that many of us tend to write more about products we are happy with than those we are not.  I'm not saying that's right but rather that we want to share good news rather than bad.  Obviously, this is just my 2¢ and others may disagree. to me, reviews are highly personal. you rate the items used based on your own opinion. the cool thing about our review system is that you can add reviews to existing reviews. once a 2nd review is added, it'll adjust the overall rating of the item, but each individual review will retain their own rating scores.

grim, here's some reviews with more than 1 review added to them so you can see the system's flexibility:

How about an "Other" category? I'm getting a razor back from Delta Echo in the next couple of days. I wouldn't mind doing a review of the new coating once I get the razor back...

setting up an other category would be tough because we'd have to think of universal review questions to ask within the review.
