When traveling or in a hurry, it just works for a mindless decent shave.  Because it is not used daily blade cost is reasonable.
Hey Freddy...

What razor is that, and, is that an actual working power button? Does it vibrate (like that vintage razor Dave in KY has)?

Quite interesting...

Hi mrdoug.  It's just a Gillette Fusion Proglide Power that is sold all over and can easily be picked up on Amazon, as well as in retail shops.  The button is, indeed, a power working button that causes the razor to gently vibrate.  The orange ball at the top, just under the blade, is called a Flex Ball and permits the head to pivot back and forth as well as up and down.  The cartridges are pricy but, as I stated, I don't use the razor every day as I usually use a DE or SE so each cartridge lasts me quite a long time.
Awesome, thanks for the reply. There's a lot going on there, between the vibration and the flex ball... It's a mini machine. Darn cool.

I rarely use carts, except for travel, as well. That razor would probably have me just as worried to loose it as I would for a de razor. Lol.

I considered grabbing a Mach 3 to see how that would fair for travel. slantman swears by them (Sorry, for some reason I thought it was Gus who posted that). Currently, I use an Indian Guard, which is probably as dirt cheap for carts as you can get. Still, I wonder if I'm short changing myself on those away days.

Thanks again!

Well, my Mach 3 came in last night and I got a chance to use it. While the star of the show was definitely the soap (Hendrix Havana breeze), I have to say the Mach 3 did a superb job.

Same with the defender I tried maybe two weeks ago, It still felt like it had no soul. Obviously, shaving with a cart is a lot easier than a DE, SE, or (I'm guessing) a straight razor. Nonetheless, it absolutely gave me a closer and easier shave than the Guard. Comparing it to the defender, I think the Gillette was a little better.

Since I take vacation so infrequently, and this is really the only reason I'd want to keep a cart around, I'll probably keep the Mach 3 for travel and get rid of the guard. I'll need a blade every year, at most? That's not a huge expense.

Have an awesome Thursday DFS!

Will actually try out tomorrow the Personna easy fit Mach3 generic cartridge. Fits the Gillette Mach3 handle perfectly

The Personna cartridge is excellent. It has an enormous amount of lubrication which makes the blade glide without feel.

I'd love to know if it lasts as long (as many shaves) as the OG cart. I'm guessing they're significantly less expensive? Would definitely be a good buy, if they can hang in there.
