I know it cant be the same for everyone but it works so well for me I just cant believe it. Tomorrow I grind some Dunkin beans, add some sweetener and French vanilla, slurp that sucker down. Scrub my face with a complexion brush and some sandalwood soap from France, rinse with cold, apply some Trumpers Almond or Coconut with some Proraso to keep it cool and add a bit of cushion, then I get a new Feather or Iridium and slap that sucker in my R89, Tell "Simon" my black Siberian cat with the green eyes to get his head out of the sink and lay down, then I will shave off 3 bucks worth of lather in one pass, then go back and do my jaw bones and cheeks 3 more times with all the left over chilly Trumpers in my large super badger that could keep lathering faces all day long. Slight exaggeration at the end there for effect.

A cat in the sink must be a bigger preshave event than I had thought. I have a gray and white forest cat also named Simon (aka Tubby) Tubby enjoys shaving, bathing, gardening, ferret chasing, and hanging out with my ducks.
Ohhh preshave stuff,,,,sorry, got distracted by a pretty kitty and forgot where I was :D ....

Ya know,,,,,,Thats how my Swiss Cheese brain works.

I prefer a cup of Coffee, light and sweet, and then some cold water to get started. If any of you guys haven't tried cold water shaving your missing out.

I like using cold water rinse for my straight razor... The cool steel on the skin feels nice, and there is enough thermal mass on a straight's blade to keep that coolness for the entire stroke, however with DE shaving, I definitely prefer warm water rinse on the blade...
Both for feel, as well as the fact that warm water cleans out the soap/hair a lot better on the razor's head, where as with the straight, it's not an issue.
