Thursday, July 29th…

J. M. Fraser's shaving soap…
Semogue 1305 boar brush…
Weishi TTO razor...
Shark (Super Chrome) blade (3rd use)...
Thayer's Superhazel followed by
Floid (Italian) after shave.

…a smooth and very comfortable shave in 3 passes…

Footnote: Back to basics because yesterday, in a moment of distraction (a rambunctious cat), I made a surgically perfect incision just under my left jawbone. So a mild razor and blade seemed the minimum necessary today to avoid opening the wound.

The inexpensive Weishi has always given me an easy, comfortable shave although three carefully executed passes almost always seem necessary to avoid five-o'clock-shadow. Does anyone know if the Weishi is an exact copy of some vintage Gillette TTO or just a generalized knock-off?

The S 1305 does wonderfully with the J. M. Fraser shave cream and I think the brush is almost completely broken in.

The more I use the Italian Floid the more I like it…although there are occasions when I think it's just a tad too heavy and lingers just a bit too long.

Razor: Merkur Long Handled Classic (23C)
Blade: Super Iridium
Brush: Grosvenor LE
Soap: Tabac
A/S: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel, Speick Splash

I'm always happy when Tabac comes up in my rotation, and I was not disappointed this morning--the shave was excellent! A quick splash of Speick and I'm ready to go.

Razor: Merkur Progress XL
Blade: Super Iridium
Brush: Rudy Vey Beehive with Shavemac Knot
Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet
A/S: Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet

I have been admiring Rudy Vey's work for awhile and finally had him make me a brush. I opted for the Beehive handle with a Shavemac D01 knot (22mm diameter & 48mm loft) in a fan shape. The brush whipped up lather with ease and had excellent flow through. The tips were among the softest I have ever experienced and the brush was a joy to use. Another BBS shave!

'51 Superspeed w/ Bolzano
E.J. BBB
La Toja sc
Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
Speick a/s
Musgo Real a/s balsam
Gris Clair Edp

Leisurely shave this afternoon and a DFS to boot. The La Toja makes fantastic lather and I had so much left after three passes that I shaved my head so I wouldn't waste it. Doing errands for SWMBO who is off with her kids to Pittsburgh for her son's first college tour...you won't hear me complaining about anything these days...it's all good.

THURSDAY

Semogue 1800
Polmolive Shave Cream THANKS FREDDY
Merkur Bakelite
IP Red
Dickensons WH
PC After Shave Balm Dragon's Blood Scent

Today was one of those shaves where it all came together. The Polmolive SC and the 1800 whipped up so much rich lather I had enough for at least 5 passes. The razor glided over my beard I barely could feel it. After the hot and cold rinse I applied the finishers and could not believe how relaxed and good I felt. Face was smooth, soft, and felt great. I almost wish my face was bigger so I could shave longer.
   :coo_coo:

Semogue 1305 boar brush
Hoffritz travel slant razor
Derby Extra blade (7th, and last, use)
Vitamin-E oil, used as a pre-shave
Roger & Gallet L'Homme shaving cream
up & up (Target house brand) witch hazel
Roger & Gallet L'Homme after shave balm
Caswell-Massey Newport talc (always a big thank you to Marty for this)
Roger & Gallet L'Homme EdT

I had to try out the L'Homme shaving cream and after shave balm that arrived yesterday and I was not disappointed. Both are excellent products and that wonderful, for me, L'Homme scent is just about perfect. If and when I use up the shave cream and after shave balm, though, I don't know where I'd go to look for it. I am not willing to pay the outrageous shipping charges at Woodruffs again. Oh well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Anyway, a smell good BBS shave!

Cold water
Silvertip from PC Woodcraft
T&H 1805 cream
Old Type, Bullmastiff
Red IP blade
Dior, Fahrenheit 32

What a pleasure. Took my time and enjoyed the ride. I haven't used my 1805 for some time now, and wow, what a lather and scent (not sure how much of this had to do with the brush). I knew this would be good. Bob's razor w/ the IP was as smooth as silk. And the Dior brings it to a crescendo.
