Would recommend Bon Monsieur by Zingari Man....both the shave soap and corresponding splash.

It's supposed to mirror the scent profile of Van Cleef's Tsar...one of the all-time greats of the genre.

You could even buy the actual Bon Monsieur fragrance made by Rogue Perfumery.
Their schtick is that they don't shy away from using real oak moss which is an essential component
of an authentic fougere.

This is reminding me that I have a bottle of Musgo Real No.2  (oakmoss/lavender) from a while back that I never bring out to use, but I know it’s awesome. Dammit

So is Skin Bracer Big Grin

The quintessential barbshop scent is definitely a fougère, which I always love seeing since it always throws a big wrench into the "what REALLY is a barbershop" existential discussions that I enjoy even if the answer is as mysterious as how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.

Interesting, I didn’t realize that Clubman was in the fougere wheelhouse.

Rather than the BEST fougere, what would be the most quintessential fougere splash that is readily available today, without stalking the bay or waiting for a limited run? In other words, which splash today best exemplifies conventional/archetypical/straight up  fougere without creative twists/improvements?

I dunno, maybe there is something here that I am not understanding, but I believe that the very first fougere fragrance was created by Paul Parquet in 1882 for the house of Houbigant called  'Fougère Royale', and I believe that Pinaud Clubman classic is probably the most well known mass produced aftershave version of that fragrance:

Am I missing something? Maybe Canoe aftershave?  Brut?
