It's pretty good! Although my skin feels pretty tight after shaving, which I get the same reaction from every soap containing coconut oil.
It's a VERY soft soap and I made the mistake of loading the brush directly from the tub (and overloaded it).  Now I understand why there were little scoops in the box. Big Grin
I love the scent!  It's a very good match for Creed Aventus (my fav).

Actually...I prefer loading it from the tub and then face lathering. Generates a better lather for me. Plus face lathering allows even more of the good stuff in this soap to get into your skin. Just a few seconds..less than 10 seconds of loading works perfectly...If it’s too light you can always easily add more later in the shave...

Hello
Skin shouldn’t feel dry even with the little bit of coconut in there. Let’s see how your skin feels with a few more shave under your belt. Also did you get the Skin Food Splash?

Thank you!

I also feel a little dry when the soap overloaded and underhydrated. Try using less soap, more water next time. This absolutely critical for Lavender but guess it could impact the others in extreme cases of overloading.

Yes, he has matching Skin Food for all 3 soaps.

Coconut Oil does tend to dry the skin. I can absolutely confirm this.

Not "dry", but tight. My skin actually feels very nourished. When evaluating soaps I usually just rinse off after the final pass, towel dry, and leave my skin alone for 5 minutes while I put things away and clean up. It's during this 5 minutes that the tightness appears. I only ever get this feeling with soaps containing coconut oil; MdC and Razorock are the worst for this feeling. After 5 min or so, I use Thayer's original witch hazel which dissipates the feeling, followed up with the Ethos splash. After the splash, my skin feels great. This morning (9 hours later) my skin feels awesome.

Yes, and thanks to Dan for assisting in getting these into my paws!
I'll do some further testing, and report back when I have some notable results. This is only my first shave with Ethos.
I was reminded this morning about the soap consistency and where I'd seen it before. It's the exact same consistency as the original M&M Eisteacht (duck fat/tallow base before it became the harder "Aon"), very soft almost cream-like and the top surface had the same cratered appearance.

I was going to mention MDC is considered by many to be drying but in my experience needs to be heavily hydrated and actually leaves me with a nice post shave experience.

MDC doesn’t leave me dry either just a clean feeling which I like better than an oily feeling and then I follow up with a Skin Food splash I made with a Fougere aroma I made for myself a couple of years ago that comes close to their soap scent cause it’s my favorite Fougere.   I’m a fan of the MDC brand as they have been very nice to me and helped me get my new jars I got from France. Nice family and I like their bath soaps also.

I also find if I swirl certain soaps to much they can be a bit more drying than if I paint the lather on. Just an observation.

I’ve tried to make my soaps so they have a good balance of cushion, both slickness and residual slickness or what sone call Ghost slickness and a good post shave feel without leaving an oily feeling on my skin which I personally don’t like. Same with aftershaves. If they leave a sticky feeling on my skin I won’t use them.

Just my 2 cents on the subject.

I’m glad you mentioned them , that’s great to know , they are often a forgotten “artisan” as folks consider them shelf brand mass producers. The same goes for Cella for that matter.

It’s always interesting how products impact each of us quite differently.....I’ve come to believe that perceived product performance is more of a function of your particular skin type, water quality, prep style, shave style, expectations, etc. than of the product itself in many cases. That’s why reviews are basically meaningless..as are the endless inane arguments here and on other sites about product performance and “superiority.”
