Leon was brilliant. His pairing with Nelson on “Don’t Fence Me In” was magic. THE quintessential song capturing the American Soul

Just got done listening to Bach's Goldberg Variations with Glenn Gould performing. This is his 1955 performance and is one of the most interesting versions of this piece.

Great music. His symphonies were among my favorites to play in orchestras when I was in college long ago.

Being as we appear on an ineluctable path to war, a collection of national anthems.

Many of these anthems were penned by the great composers: none more magnificent than the Russian (formerly Soviet) by Alexandrov (often misattributed to Tchaikovsky).  It is worthy of a standalone masterpiece disassociated with the great land. But the feeling so completely captures the land, people and struggle as to bring tears, particularly when combined with words.  It was an inspiring shave if under less than sanguine auspices.

Beautiful. Remember seeing Previn presenting this once. Capricciosi by definition always so uplifting.
