Personna Blades

The red one today made in Germany and for me its better than others ( i didn't test first one). Very comfortable and very sharp and durable.

Been using personnas for decades,all except the med preps,I found them all the same,same sharpness,longevity.the newest ones made in germany I find are different and last twice the shaves,just finished 8 shaves last month with the made in Germany ones,stopped because I changed to a new never before tried blade,maybe another shave or 2, could have squeezed out,but I don’t remember any dulling or pulling,usually get 4 shaves with personnas.

Lipripper nailed it. Only thing to add is that Personna packaging changes a lot. For Lab Blues the only consistent thing is that they say Made in USA on them. So look out for that if you’re interested in those blades as they (and Med Preps) are the only blades made in the USA.

Right, I was only really agreeing about the USA blades because those are the only blades I know anything about. Have no idea regarding the others.

I'm not sure which these are. Box has USA address, but also says "Blades made in Germany." They work well in the Henson.

The overall company responsible for all Personna blades is Edgewell Personal Care. They are a USA based company; thus the USA address.

A few years ago, Personna blades either came from Israel or were made under license by AccuTec in the USA. Things have changed significantly. As of 2019, the Israeli plant was shuttered and production was moved to Germany where Edgewell already had a plant making blades under the Schick and Wilkinson Sword brands. The initial blades made there were Personna Platinum blades which were similar to the famed Israeli Platinum blades known as Israeli Reds. 

It looks like the German plant is now making blades using the Personna brand that are stainless steel without a platinum coating. That is what you purchased. I have not used them, so I do not know their quality. 

In the mean time, AccuTec has decided to do some rebranding to focus more on their own brands rather than licensing the Personna name. They are now making most of their blades either under the AccuThrive or AccuForge brands. They still make blades for barbers use under the Personna label. The blades we once referred to a Personna Med Preps are now sold as AccuThrive Prep blades. I evaluated some and found them to be excellent blades. The blades we once referred to as Personna Lab Blues are now sold under the AccuForge brand. The "comfort coated" label has been replaced with "MicroCoat".

A few years ago, the company did a promotional campaign for social media. I signed up for it and they sent the blades gratis. I hadn't used them in some time and then just rediscovered they work reasonably well in the Henson. So, I'm going to keep them.
