It looks like a twig for sure but I think Dave is right and it’s an unusually thick hair.  On top of that I suspect it may have been turned around with the thick end facing out.  When it came time to get rid of it I tried just pulling it out and that did the trick.  And even then the hair split about half way down and I had to pull it twice.  Then though it came pretty flush with the glue bump and shouldn’t cause me any more problems.

Was it a twig? I don’t really know much about boar brush manufacturing and just figured by the time it got to the factories any debris/foreign objects would be removed.

If that’s not the case than my guess would be a piece of straw/hay.
