First attempt at setting the edge . And honing to shave ready. I did shave with it ! And was pleasantly surprised.  Thanks to Matt and his guidance. Will attempt the Filarmonica next? No maybe a couple more beat up razors first. [Image: aIy32vY.jpg]

I dropped the edge on the 13/16 Goldedge that I have been using to 8k, and attempted to finish on this Ozuku Koppa.  I started with a slurry, and eventually it was diluted down to just water for the final 30 laps or so.  I will likely shave test it tomorrow.

How did the tests go? Do you perform any tests aside from shaving?

Here’s a post from IG I made the other day

Wholly Kaw Rebelle
Black Eagle 28mm HT1
Max Sprecher 7/8 Hitachi White Sumi
.
.
Wife and kids are out of town for a few days, so I did what any normal guy would do....tested some razor/jnat combos and honed! Shapton glass out performs any of the jnats in my stable with the white steel. Otherwise I paired a carbon henkles with ozuku after finishing to 4K on synthetics. The other was a Robeson paired with one of my nakayama directly after the 1k. I tested these this morning for a swipe or and both were an absolute dream to use. Both of the vintage razors are for sale if anyone is looking for vintage with jnat edges. Cheers![Image: 57c173b5b8624012de9e6b55d254d84a.jpg]

Yes...I used one of my daughters very fine hairs, and it easily passed the hanging hair test all along the edge which was impressive given the fineness of the hair.  The bevel near the edge looks great under the 30x loupe.  So I suspect it’s going to be a really nice edge!

This is my first attempt with finishing on a JNAT, so I am excited!

My pal wants to try straight razor shaving so I am sending him this Genco Focus.  The was the pre-finishing step before moving to the Escher Barbers Gem.  This Genco took a pristine edge, and just felt wonderful on the stones.  I have one other I need to sharpen and try.

The shave off of the Ozuku Koppa was phenomenal.  If I got a shave like this on my first try, I can’t wait to really dial it in...the words beautiful, smooth, sublime, excellent...they all come to mind!
