Congrats on shaving with a Darwin. I had one a couple of years ago....loved the look, and I liked having it in the den.

The shave was not super-impressive by most standards. It shaved well, but not spectacularly. I'm pretty much a person who focuses on functionality over form, and I gave mine away after a few months.

That said, it is so lovely that I occasionally miss having it.....just to look at, and for the occasional shave.

I've heard a few people say it didn't live up to expectations in the shave department but how could it really when you see the prices people pay for them. I found it a really good shave, mild but close and I'm enjoying it immensely but is it five times better than my Mongoose or ATT S1 , no it's not.
Like you said it's certainly a looker and is nice to have and to hold. Thanks for the comments.

Thank you. I'll do an update review after it's been thoroughly put through its paces. I'm doing MWF for all of March so I would like to see how it does with other soaps.

Looking forward to it. I used to own one, but sold it several years ago with most of my vintage collection. It is a looker for sure.

Certainly is, the top cap reminds me of the grill on those old 1930's cars ; all chromed and chunky!

I do not insist that it is a mediocre shaver for everyone........just that I found it to be so. Razors are such a personal item, everyone has their own preferences.

I have a feeling that the high prices these command is mostly related to their rarity and partly to the fact that they are lovely. I have a feeling that it is less focused on their performance than on other factors.

And if it shaves well for you then all the better. If I didn't like the shave with it I would have no hesitation in selling it, much to my wife's disappointment
