Yes but that is a long story.  You can use either, laquer looks better in the end for items you personally touch if you want my opinion.

I use polyurethane a lot on wood.  But for stabilized wood brushes, laquer feels and looks more luxurious to me.

He was already using this, i just happened to ask Rudy on Sunday or Monday in case I had to touch them up in 10 years.

One of the reasons I ask is because I have an idea (I don’t think it’s an original idea because I may have seen someone mention it before) to coat an entire DR Harris wooden bowl in urethane to waterproof it.

I hope that one on the left doesn't smell like a Sasquatch!! Reportedly they have a body order that could gag a maggot off of a gut wagon!!

I bought a Romulus by Yaqi last December, and while I can use the original handle okay, I am always concerned about it slipping out of my fingers. These came today as alternatives for that situation.

On the left, an unnamed handle in a matte finish, and on the right, the Milano handle, which is polished like the Romulus.

It’s actually a complex lavender scent and not a rank Bigfoot aroma! I got the Sarsaparilla (my second one) as a gift for my son.

This'll fix it right up:
A few turns of cloth hockey tape, aka friction tape.

Seriously, I had to use it on one of those Wilkinson Sword TTO razors. Smooth and polished would be far better than the spiral knurling they have.

I've used Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane / Clear Gloss on a vintage wooden handle and it's still great after a few years. (Since August 30, 2019)

I figured it would be able to stand up to the hot water.

But I could see how the thinner coat of lacquer would look and feel like a more natural finish. (Are we talking nitrocellulose lacquer?)
